Diary of a Country Priest DVD

'Diary of a Country Priest' Director: Robert Bresson (1950) French w/ English subtitles

Bresson brings his sparse, intense approach to the story of a young sickly priest assigned to a rural parish in Northern France whose residents have little appetite for spirituality. He becomes embroiled in the complexities of a wealthy Count's domestic life and struggles to engage with his parishioners. We hear his reflections through excerpts from his diary which also serve as a broader look at humankind.
