'La Strada'  Director: Federico Fellini  (1954) Starring: Giulietta Masina, Anthony Quinn  Italian w/ English subtitles Restoration

A masterpiece? Definitely one of Fellini's finest as he begins to adapt neo-realism into something new in international cinema.  'Gelsomina' is sold into servitude and becomes a clown assistant to fairground strongman 'Zampano', they eke out an existence on the road as he treats her abominably. The possibility of refuge arrives for her on joining a travelling circus.
