Throne of Blood - Robert N. Watson (BFI Film Classics)

'Throne of Blood' by Robert N. Watson

A detailed scholarly account of Akira Kurosawa's influential film which transposes 'Macbeth' to feudal Japan. Watson examines the symbolic, cinematic and historical aspects of the film. He also looks at what the film has to say about the tension between individual aspiration and the broader social good.
